Emily Vigil (B. 1977, Brasilia, Brazil)
Vigil is a painter based in Northeast Ohio, USA. Vigil credits her international upbringing for her love of painting landscapes from many points of view. She has professionally exhibited her artwork for over sixteen years, showing in the Northeast, Midwest, and the Southern regions of United States. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Louisiana State University and a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Marshall University. She has augmented her fine art study with a master copy inside the Louvre Museum in Paris, France and a landscape painting marathon at the New York Studio School, New York City.
Her artwork is held in private collections in sixteeen states across the US as well as in Canada, France, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. She has received art grants from the West Virginia Arts Council (2006), City of Canton, Ohio, (2008) and ArtsinStark (2009, 2015, and 2017). Vigil is also an arts professional. She currently works part-time as Studio M Coordinator for the Massillon Museum. Her past experience in art education and administration includes work as a gallery director, adjunct professor of art and design, and elementary art teacher.
